What is RecNet
RecNet, short for Recreational Netball, is a relaxed, social way to enjoy netball without the pressure of competition. Players work together to pass the ball, move around the court and shoot for goal, with simpler rules and no scores to keep track of.
It’s a chance to get active, enjoy being part of a team and meet new people — whether you’re trying netball for the first time or returning after a break.
Sessions delivered in partnership with Netball Scotland
Who is it for ?
RecNet is for anyone aged 16 and over who wants to enjoy a friendly, non-competitive game of netball.
You might enjoy RecNet if you:
- Are completely new to netball
- Used to play and would like to get back into the game
- Want to enjoy netball without joining a competitive league
- Are looking for a fun and social way to be more active
- Would like to meet new people while enjoying some exercise
RecNet supports mixed-gender teams.
You don’t need to know all the rules or have played before. Beginners are welcome, and you can learn as you go.
What can I expect?
RecNet sessions are friendly and informal, with the focus on enjoying the game rather than winning.
You’ll pass, catch and shoot while playing alongside others, with fewer rules and no fixed team positions to worry about. There’s no pressure to get everything right — it’s about taking part, building confidence and having fun.
Unlike Walking Netball, RecNet isn’t restricted to walking, so you can expect to move around the court at a more active pace.
What do I need ?
Wear comfortable clothes you can move easily in, along with suitable trainers. Bring some water with you too.
There’s no need for a team kit or specialist clothing — just come ready to take part.
