Filming and Photography Policy

Respecting your privacy while supporting your fitness journey

At Glasgow Club, we know some members like to take photos or record themselves while using our facilities. This may be to check technique, track progress or create fitness content for personal use or social media.

We want to support this while making sure everyone can use Glasgow Club facilities feeling comfortable and respected.

Quick guide

Before you record, please:

  • Record yourself, not others.
  • Keep your device out of the way.
  •          Observe private or no-filming areas
  • Follow staff guidance if asked to stop, move or adjust your recording.

When you can film or take photos

You are welcome to take photos or record yourself in our gyms where it is safe and appropriate to do so. Please set up your device so it captures your own activity, does not block equipment or walkways, and does not make other members feel overlooked or recorded.

Please make sure your recording does not include or disrupt other members, block equipment, affect the running of the facility or place a camera in a position that could reasonably be considered intrusive.

Please take care with camera angles, mirrors and background areas, as other members may be included without realising.

Where filming is not allowed

For everyone’s privacy and dignity, filming and photography are not permitted in these areas:

  •   Changing rooms
  •   Shower areas
  •  Toilets
  •   Pool areas

·         Any other area identified by Glasgow Club as a private or no-filming area

This applies to all recording devices, including mobile phones, cameras and wearable devices such as smart glasses.

Using smart glasses or wearable recording devices

Technology such as smart glasses can make recording less obvious to others. If you use a wearable device that can record, the same rules apply as they would for any other camera or recording device.

If a member of staff asks you to stop recording, move position or remove a recording device from use in a particular area, you must follow their instruction. This helps us keep the facility safe, comfortable and respectful for everyone.

Recording other people without their knowledge or consent is not permitted.

Glasgow Club filming and photography

From time to time, Glasgow Club may arrange photography or filming for promotional, marketing, training or other organisational purposes.

Where filming or photography is planned as part of a class, activity or organised session, participants will be informed in advance and will have the opportunity to understand what is being recorded and how the content may be used.

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that people who do not wish to be included are not filmed.

Any planned filming will be managed by Glasgow Club staff or an authorised photographer/production team, and additional signage or information will be provided where appropriate.

Filming for commercial purposes will only be permitted by prior formal arrangement with Glasgow Life

What to do if you are concerned about being filmed

You should be able to exercise at Glasgow Club without feeling that you are being recorded without your knowledge.

If you believe you have been filmed or photographed without your awareness or consent, please speak to a member of the Glasgow Club team. We will take your concern seriously and explain what steps can be taken.

If you see someone filming and are concerned that you may be included, please speak to a member of staff rather than approaching the person yourself.

Working together

We ask everyone to be considerate when using phones, cameras or any other recording devices in our facilities.

A simple rule to remember is:

Record yourself, not others. If someone else may be identifiable, ask their permission before you record.

Thank you for helping us make Glasgow Club a welcoming and respectful environment for everyone.
